Cyrus for Minecraft

Which Minecraft versions does Cyrus support?

Cyrus builds and tests plugins for four Java Edition releases on Paper: 1.21.11, 1.21.8, 1.21.4, 1.21.1. Nothing else is built yet, and this page says exactly where the line is.

Crypt of the fallen kings (example build)

Built and tested today

  • Minecraft 1.21.11: plugins compile against the real Paper API of that version and are boot-tested on a 1.21.11 server.
  • Minecraft 1.21.8: plugins compile against the real Paper API of that version and are boot-tested on a 1.21.8 server.
  • Minecraft 1.21.4: plugins compile against the real Paper API of that version and are boot-tested on a 1.21.4 server.
  • Minecraft 1.21.1: plugins compile against the real Paper API of that version and are boot-tested on a 1.21.1 server.

In preview, not offered yet

Minecraft 26.x (26.1.2, 26.2, 26.3) is in preview. It is being tested, and you cannot start a build for it yet. If your server runs 26.x, Cyrus cannot make you a plugin today.

Not supported

  • Minecraft 1.20 and older (for example the 1.8, 1.12 and 1.16 lines).
  • The 1.21.x releases between the four above (1.21.2, 1.21.3, 1.21.5 to 1.21.7, 1.21.9, 1.21.10): they are not tested, so Cyrus does not offer them. Pick the closest supported version if your server allows it.
  • Spigot or CraftBukkit servers, and Folia. Cyrus plugins use the Paper API.
  • Purpur is a Paper fork and usually runs Paper plugins, but Cyrus tests on Paper only, so we do not promise it.
  • Bedrock Edition and Geyser-converted resource packs.
  • Client-side mods for Fabric, Forge or NeoForge.

How to choose

Pick the version your server runs when you start a mod. Cyrus compiles and tests for that exact version, so a plugin made for one version may not load on another. You can rebuild a mod for a different supported version later.

FAQ

Questions

Do you support all Minecraft versions?

No. Cyrus builds for 1.21.11, 1.21.8, 1.21.4, 1.21.1 on Paper today. 26.x is in preview, and older versions are not supported.

When will Minecraft 26.x be supported?

We are testing it, but we have no date to give. This page changes when it is offered.

Do my players need to install anything?

No. Plugins made with Cyrus run on the server (Cyrus tests on Paper; Purpur is a Paper fork and usually runs Paper plugins, but it is not tested), and builds are ordinary blocks, so players join with a normal Minecraft client.
